an AVORE meeting?
Where are the
AVORE meetings held?
To become an active, non-voting member and receive meeting
announcement you only have to phone, fax or email the Executive Secretary – see
Members, Offices and Committees for this information.
An AVORE Council Member is an active, voting member of the
AVORE Council. Only Council Members
attend the business meeting and vote upon matters that are presented at that
meeting. Only Council Members can serve
on the four Committees or as an officer.
The number of Council Members is regulated by the
ByLaws. To become a Council Member one
must be solicited and sponsored by a current Council Member to apply for
Council Membership. Then this person
must serve as an active member for two years and give a least two,
twenty-minute, well-organized presentations during the meetings, apply in
writing to the President for a Council Member position and receive unanimous
vote of the entire Council membership.
To attend an AVORE meeting, one only has to pre-register
with the Executive Secretary and pay the registration fee for that meeting.
The meetings are held in different locations each year for
added enjoyment of the attendees. The
Winter Meetings are currently being held at the Resort at Squaw Valley – to
allow for some extra curricular skiing or boarding in between meeting
sessions. The Summer meetings are held
in different locations that are determined by the Council Members during the
regular Business Meeting.
The AVORE Winter Meeting is usually held during January and
the Summer Meeting is held the end of July or first half of August. These times are flexible to accommodate the
schedule of our guest speakers, the availability of the facilities and decided
upon by the Council Members during the Business Meeting.
